Since 2016, Store Display Group (SD) has been pioneering advancements in recyclable display solutions. From developing eco-friendly connectors to innovating fully paper-based structures, we have been dedicated to optimizing sustainable, environmentally conscious display stands for retail environments.
The Early Challenges in Recyclable Displays
Our journey began with experiments in connector materials. One of our initial breakthroughs involved using starch-based materials for connectors. While these connectors achieved the required strength standards, they struggled with humidity, softening under moist conditions. This instability significantly affected the durability and reliability of the display, making it unsuitable for use in supermarkets and other demanding environments.
The Turning Point: Paper-Plastic Technology
By 2018, we introduced a revolutionary paper-plastic technology that redefined recyclable display design. This method allowed us to create connectors that maintained stability and load-bearing capacity while remaining resistant to humidity. This breakthrough led to the development of our patented “sub-mother” connector clips, a feature that continues to be widely used and recognized in the market.
A Commitment to 100% Recyclable Displays
For traditional displays, the primary reason they are often non-recyclable lies in the use of lamination, particularly PP lamination, and non-recyclable accessories like clips, data strips, or quick clips. At SD, we take a firm stand:
- No PP Lamination – Unless specifically requested by the client, our displays are free from polypropylene lamination.
- No Non-Recyclable Accessories – We eliminate the use of non-recyclable items such as plastic clips, data strips, or quick clips.
To uphold this commitment, we focus on innovative structural designs and eco-friendly testing methods. By doing so, we have developed a variety of sustainable solutions that honor our promise to protect the environment while meeting the functional and aesthetic needs of our clients.
Pushing the Boundaries of Pure Paper Structures
In response to economic challenges and shrinking budgets for display stands, SD took the lead in designing lighter, more cost-effective, and fully recyclable paper structures. These innovations ensure that brands can maintain high-quality retail presentations while adhering to strict sustainability standards.
One standout collaboration involved designing a fully paper-based structure for a major procurement company. Since its launch in 2021, this recyclable display has been in continuous use, demonstrating the feasibility and efficiency of pure paper solutions.
